James Michael Lambert grew up in Temecula, California to parents Regina and Michael. In Kindergarten, James was cast in as the Tin Man and sang “If I Only Had a Heart” so fast, that he could have doubled back around and sang it again before the musical track ended. Even while James had a fondness for acting, his main focus was playing baseball and was drafted for the MLB as a shortstop.
After seeing The Lion King at the Pantages theater, James quickly realized theatre was actually his life passion. He was accepted into UCLA’s school of Theater, Film, and Television and was invited to join the Ray Bolger program for Musical Theater. During his time at UCLA, he was part of Awaken Acapella and became the social chair for his fraternity.
Following college, James helped develop shows at South Coast Repertory and was cast in the second season of MADMEN working alongside John Hamm as well as a world renowned NIKE commercial. James was also cast by Garry Marshall for the musical adaptation “Happy Days”. It was here that Garry became one of James mentors. Garry instilled in James the importance of family and teamwork and how important it is to always give back to your community.
During James’ career he has been lucky enough to work with artists who he grew up admiring: Dave Koz, Garry Marshall, Paul Williams, Sara Bareilles, Cathy Rigby and Carole King. He has also been seen in such shows as Mamma Mia, Biloxi Blues, The Goldbergs, Hair, Legally Blonde, Big River, and Beautiful. James is honored to be a part of the theatrical community and is very passionate about mental health and all living things on this earth.
