DeShawn Bowens


Born in Portsmouth, VA, DeShawn  started performing at an early age. DeShawn is an alumni of the Governor School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA, a graduate of the musical theatre department where he studied singing, acting and dancing and was a part of numerous musicals. In 2010, DeShawn was  awarded the silver medal at the National Act-So competition in the category of Dramatics (The NAACP Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics competition). He was also a part of the Honey In the Rock Dance theatre based out of Portsmouth, Virginia where he performed in numerous dance concerts. To further his education in musical theatre DeShawn attended Elon University where he graduated in 2015 with a B.F.A in Music Theatre. He recently finished a run of Guys and Dolls at Asolo Repertory Theatre, which was directed and choreographed by Broadway choreographer Josh Rhodes.
