Ashley Duke

Ashley Capri Duke is from Toledo, OH and became interested in dance when her grandma took her to see her first ballet performance when she was 8, after that she knew she wanted to be a dancer. After graduating high school, she moved to New York City to become a professional dancer and train at The Ailey School. She was offered a scholarship for Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts Summer Intensive; there she was blessed to work with choreographers such as Troy Powell, Darrell Moultrie, Earl Mosley and more.
Outside of performing she has always taken interest in human anatomy and how the body of dancers work. She met a physical therapist that specialized for dancers; which inspired her to change her academic major to Exercise Science. It helped her understand how and why injuries occur and she has been able to educate others on injury prevention. She also loves to cook, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Ashley booked her first big gig after her contract ended with Staycee Pearl Dance Project in Pittsburgh, PA and moved back to New York. After a couple months she decided to audition for the Brooklynettes. It was an intense 3 day audition, and after making it to the end of the final cuts, hearing her name called she said it was so surreal!
Ashley's family has the greatest influence on her career, their love and support give her the strength to be the woman she is. Artistically, she has always admired Linda Celeste Sims; with every one of her performances she taught her the poise, strength, and beauty of being a dancer.
A quote that has always inspired Ashley is, "My heart is at ease knowing that what was meant for me will never miss me, and that what misses me was never meant for me."
– Imam Al-Shafi’i
