Elena Vazintaris is a Brooklyn based choreographer, creative movement consultant, and filmmaker.
Her career spans more than a decade, first as a performer for the likes of Shakira, Ludacris, MTV VMA’s and Nike’s Body by Dance Campaign to an established choreographer of film, video, photography and the stage.
Elena's body of work has been featured in videos for Big Data, Cool Uncle and Mates of State. TV on the Radio’s “Me-I” featuring Elena’s creative movement and choreography was awarded best music video at SXSW and recognized at Garden State Film Festival, BAM Animation Festival and Ottawa Film Festival. Accolades from SXSW continued with a best music video nomination for Yip Deceiver's "Get Strict" (featuring Reggie Watts) also choreographed by Elena.
Having a specialized knowledge of how movement best translates to film found Elena collaborating with tech startup You Visit, experimenting with the latest Virtual Reality technology, creating two short films of immersive movement. These can be experienced with Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, or Samsung Gear VR.
Most recently her work on "The Enemy" by Erik Madigan Heck was featured in New York Magazine, Dazed Digital, and Tribeca Film for its controversial exploration into police brutality through contemporary dance.
In 2015 Elena was commissioned by Refinery29 to launch UK Retailer Primark in the US by choreographing a large scale stage and runway event, scored by the Misshapes.
As a movement consultant Elena brings her unique perspective as commercial fashion stylist for brands like Diane Von Furstenberg, Target, St. John, Adrianna Papell, Calvin Klein, Adult Swim, and MTV, providing choreographic direction for fashion and editorial projects. Elena consults photographers, creative directors and models to shape bodies and mold clothing into unique visual performances for still or moving image.
Elena’s love of cinematic dance, steeped in rich and stark story telling has made her an asset in the creative process making her a sought after collaborator working a long side some of the industries top Directors, Creative Directors, and Photographers.
