Taking great pride being born and raised in “Da Bronx” New York, Jahmal “Jah” Brooks developed a passion for the performing arts from a very young age. Was easily influenced by shows like ABDC & SYTYCD with collaborative/creative styles of choreographers like Napolean and Tabitha, Dave Scott, Wade Robinson etc., Jahmal would seek out any programs in New York that supported hip hop/street style dance. After joining youth programs with Alvin Ailey and attending a performing arts high school (Bronx Theatre HS) pursuing a lifestyle on stage became a definite. Adding his gymnastics background to the mix, this brought his talents to the NBA (Brooklyn Nets) as an all around entertainer. 2017-2018 season marks his 6th season with the team as a member of “Team Hype.” From dancing, tumbling and acrobatic freestyle dunk shows, “Jah” has traveled all over performing for all sorts of crowds internationally (South Africa, Germany, Mexico City etc.). Jahmal has also appeared in music videos with artists such as A$AP Ferg, Konshens and Bob Sinclair. Jahmal is proud to represent New York and is living proof that with determination and application anything can be made possible, “The worst they can say is NO.” For the future, Jahmal hopes to transform life as a performer into life as a stage coordinator/choreographer for platforms as big as the BET Awards for an example.
