Tia Altinay makes a living as an actor in New York City. She is currently performing in Disney's, MARY POPPINS on Broadway. Her past credits include the world premiere of Aladdin at the 5th Avenue Theatre, the Mary Poppins Tour, Mamma Mia, Bombay Dreams and Disney's High School Musical.
Tia is a proud University graduate with a BFA in Music Dance Theatre. While in school Tia performed professionally as well as in University shows. Including, West Side Story (Maria) The King and I (Eliza) and Pippin (Catherine). She also had the opportunity to travel the world (Greece is her favorite) with Young Ambassadors, a group focused on bringing the arts to the world. While at school Tia studied all forms of dance including jazz, tap, ballet, clogging, latin and standard ballroom and folk. She also had the opportunity to work with many vocal teachers and train to be very versatile in legit, music theatre rock and pop styles. Tia has learned that success in one’s career comes with hard work, practice, patience, and being in the right hands at the right time. That goes well with her favorite quote by Thomas Edison, Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
When Tia is not working she is involved in the deaf community. Tia started learning American Sign Language in college and has continued her love of the language by taking classes and creating community events. Tia also enjoys traveling (Greece, Germany, London to name a few), Bikram Yoga (yes it is hot), movies, trying new restaurants and bakeries, reading, and traveling to California to power down with her family.
