Milika Cheree

I was born in Brooklyn, NY, but raised in New Jersey (Plainfield, Edison, and Lawrenceville). I have been singing since I was 4 years old. What always interested me in school was choir class and that is where I learned most of my music education and really how to sing. I was always a part of regional, state and national choirs. I began doing musical theatre in middle school, but really started to take it seriously in high school when I was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Since then I was always in the school musical every year. After high school, I attended Rider University, majoring in Musical Theatre. Outside of performing, I enjoy writing music, watching movies, and yoga. My first big professional job was the National tour of Ragtime. I attended an open call and managed to get through the typing section. After I sang, I received two callbacks, the final one being in front of Marcia Milgrom Dodge, the artistic director. A week after that, I received a call from the casting director offering me a role in the ensemble. My biggest influence is differently my mother throughout my entire life thus far. She has helped me keep a level head in this business and always remain calm in all situations. I thank her for my humility and gratitude. I have two favorite quotes that I choose to live by; one is “Do It Anyway” by Mother Teresa and also “Our Deepest Fear” by Marianna Williamson.
