Shelby Steele

Shelby Steele was born and raised in Spokane, Washington where she started dancing at the age of 3 and competed in contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap and ballet at Dance Arts Academy.  During that time she won numerous regional and national awards and scholarships, including three National titles with her solo and group routines.  Three months after graduating from high school, Shelby moved to New York City where she continued her dance studies at the Joffrey Ballet School and Broadway Dance Center’s Professional Semester.  She has performed and had featured roles at Brooklyn Dance Festival, BDC Professional Semester Showcase, The PULSE Awards Show, DanceMakers, Inc. and Sybarite. Shelby has also had the privilege of being selected and performing choreography for Matt Steffanina and Brian Friedman at The PULSE Atlantic City, Dee Caspary and Theresa Stone at The PULSE Gala in NYC, Tessandra Chavez at Radix Boston, and the principal dancer for Kiyo Company’s “Like a Ghost” music video.  In addition, Shelby has also been featured as a product model for Broadway Dance Center’s online retail store as well as several fitness portfolio shoots.  There are many people who have who have contributed and influenced Shelby’s education, experience and career in dance, but the biggest has been Theresa Stone, director of AbstraKT Beings (the company). Shelby met Theresa in September of 2015 at Broadway Dance Center and after auditioning, was chosen as a Company Dancer for AbstraKT Beings in June of 2016.   She has had the opportunity to perform with AbstraKT at Broadway Dance Center’s Premiere Showcase, Carnival Choreographer’s Ball NYC, Radix Boston and Run the Night.  In addition to continuing her training at Broadway Dance Center, Peridance and workshops/conventions, Shelby has assisted Theresa with numerous choreography projects throughout NYC, New Jersey and Arizona.  A firm believer in “everything happens for a reason,” Shelby is excited about achieving her lifelong goal of being represented by Bloc NYC and is ready to continue her training and hard work to accomplish everything she has set out to do.
