Robert Bynes

Robert Bynes grew up in Piscataway, New Jersey. At a young age, he was always entertaining his family with his love for dance and being in the spotlight. With his constant involvement and love for sports, he never paid too much attention to his natural dancing abilities until later in his youth. His older cousin inspired him to get better and take dance more seriously when he realized the positive effects it had on him. Robert began performing as a freshman in high school, with his only “training” coming from YouTube, dance movies and watching the dancers around him very closely. His freshman year, he joined a local dance crew called the Dance Floor Ownerz, and performed with them all around New Jersey throughout his high school years and on. In the fall of 2013, Robert took a step forward and auditioned for a collegiate dance company called RAPS Dance Troupe (RDT) based out of Rutgers University, where he made his presence known at competitions as a new dancer on the East Coast scene. Under RDT, Robert branched out his training learning from experienced dancers from the New Jersey dance community.

After 2 years he was selected to continue on as creative director of RDT and is now an emerging leader in the community. Robert currently teaches hip hop at various competition studios and continues his training at Broadway Dance Center, Peridance Capezio Center and Exile Professional Gym. As a natural hip hop dancer and freestyler, he also trains in ballet, contemporary and jazz to broaden his range as a dancer. Dancing full-time, Robert devotes himself to becoming better every day and capitalizing on every opportunity that comes his way. As a man of faith, a scripture that he lives by is Philippians 4:13; “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
