Philip Colgan was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. At age four, Phil took his first steps on a stage—a Broadway stage—at a performance of the 1994 revival of Grease. The revival featured an on-stage dance contest before each show, which Phil and his sister would win before a Saturday matinee. This undoubtedly sparked something in Phil and gave him the urge to perform that would never go away.
A few years later, having to copy every single thing his older sister did, Phil began dancing at a local studio while also performing in school plays. He continued his training into his teens, receiving exciting opportunities like appearing on FOX’s Good Day New York and The Michael Jackson Funeral Broadcast.
Now currently a senior at New York University, Phil’s credits include regional productions of Monty Python’s Spamalot and Damn Yankees, as well as music videos and other television shows. Phil also recently completed the Summer Professional Semester at Broadway Dance Center.
In addition to performing, Phil continues to pursue his passion for choreography, having his work featured at The Young Choreographer’s Festival and in the upcoming short movie-musical, “More Like Shrek”. Phil teaches around the tri-state area while actively pursuing his career in dance.
