Olivia Platania

Olivia is from New York, NY.  She started taking dance classes at five years old and hasn’t stopped since. While she kept up with her dance training, Olivia also was involved in school and Community Theater.  She eventually found her way to Long Island University where she majored in Dance Studies and minored in Business Administration.  During college, Olivia also took numerous musical theater courses as well.  Prior to her college graduation, Olivia worked on some projects and small jobs. Her first big booked job, however, was landing a spot on the NBA Brooklynettes dance team for the 2018-2019 season.  She had attended the open call auditions, which consisted of four days of intense choreography, interviews, group work and assessment of athletic abilities.  One of Olivia’s biggest influences that has always inspired her is her hometown dance teacher, Lauren Melaccio.  Even though Olivia teaches with her now, she still looks to Lauren for advice and guidance.  Another person that has influenced and inspired Olivia is Adar Wellington, former coach of the Brooklynettes. Adar really pushed Olivia to be her best and keep growing to her fullest potential.  Outside of dancing, Olivia loves fitness and obstacle course racing. You can also find her in the kitchen trying out new recipes.  Her favorite saying to live by is “Everything Happens For a Reason.”
