Mykayla Hicks

Dance was the only thing that I was introduced to at the toddler age of three. I started my first dance class in Grand Prairie, Texas, not too far from my hometown Desoto, Texas.  My true passion and love for dance really took off when I moved to Dance Industry Performing Arts Center in Plano, Texas, under the direction of Christy Wolverton-Davis.  My training continued when I had the privilege to attend one of the top prestigious arts high school, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas.  Throughout my childhood, I received a plethora of recognitions and scholarships, which allowed me to travel and train at varies dance events and intensives. I also had the opportunity to train with several world known choreographers and teachers that have influenced and inspired me along the way.  I’ve had the opportunity to teach dance classes in New Jersey and in Dallas.  Because of the influences of teachers in my life, I enjoy teaching dance classes to others. Currently, I am a BFA Commercial Dance Major at Pace University Manhattan.  My most recent accomplishment includes making it to Academy Week on So You Think You Can Dance, Season 15. When I’m not dancing, which isn’t often, I love spending time with family and friends, shopping, traveling and just being ME, the upbeat energy-filled person in the room.
