Maya Stripling

Maya was born in Manhattan and raised in Teaneck, NJ. She started dancing at the age of 3 and enjoyed performing (singing and dancing) for family members and friends since she was a toddler. She trained at Alvin Ailey, Professionals Dance Company, and through programs in high school and at Syracuse University. She is also co-chair of Outlaws Dance Troupe, the only hip-hop group on the school's campus. Her interests outside of performing include watching movies and going exploring with close friends. Maya booked her first job by competing in a Wild Out Wednesday competition on BET’s 106 & Park, in a girl group called Girls Like Us. The main person who has influenced Maya’s artistic experience is her mother because of her passion to ensure Maya remained engaged with her talents and continued to follow her dreams of being a performer. Maya’s favorite saying is “Actions speak louder than words.”
