Martin King

Martin King, a twenty-one year old Long Island native, fell in love with the Art of Dance after taking his first Breakdancing class at age nine. He has since submerged himself in vast styles of dance and music. Beginning with taking classes in Breakdancing, Acro, and Hip-Hop, Martin was encouraged to expand on his abilities and discovered his love for the Contemporary style as well. With the desire to further improve on his skills, he has pursued training in Ballet, Jazz, and Technique. Seeing his commitment and investment, Martin’s dance instructors began to involve him in teaching the younger classes as an assistant, at age Twelve. From Dance competitions and Dance conventions, to simple studio time, Martin is always inspired and encouraged by seeing other dancers share his passion. Some of the people who have influenced martin throughout his journey and career are: Danny “infms” Rodriguez, Brian Friedman, Tessandra Chavez, Erica Sobol, and Ian Eastwood. He booked his first big job dancing for Riseup Youth Movement choreographed by Cynthia Margeaux Geffon, and is apart of Unique Soulz The Company, ran by Megan “Megz” Alfonso.

After years of taking classes and observing the way that his mentors work, he now stands at the front of the classroom as a teacher and choreographer. Currently, he teaches dance to children of all ages in the genres of Hip hop, Contemporary, Jazz, and Technique/Strength, at multiple studios on Long Island. His students enjoy his fun energy and constant motivation to help them reach their full potential. Outside of dance, Martin likes to spent time with friends and family who also influence and inspire him in his daily life. Martin puts his whole heart into what he does, and believes deeply in his favorite quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters…compared to what lies within us.”
