Janae Harrison

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Janae Harrison has loved to dance since she could walk. Although not technically trained, Janae spent countless hours learning dance moves from Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Toni Braxton, and JLo videos, in addition to acting out scenes from her favorite movies. At a young age, Janae knew she had a special talent for entertaining crowds and bringing people of all ages together with dance.

While attending the University of Maryland College Park, Janae joined Dynamic Dance Team to refine her hip-hop skills for fun. But it wasn't until after college that she joined Teamwegonmakeit (TWGMI) to seriously train with other aspiring professional hip-hop dancers. With TWGMI, Janae was given the opportunity to dance for local artists and perform at major events like Howard University's Homecoming Yardfest and the Every Child Fed Foundation NYE Masquerade Ball.  Most recently, she has trained with Rhapsody James’ Motivating Excellence Intensive and Luam Keflezky’s Rock the Industry program and has performed with Billy Winn, JRome and KedaSings.  Janae enjoys training in various styles of dance, but is strongest in Hip-hop, African, Dancehall and Step.

Although Janae loves performing on and off stage, she loves giving back to the community even more. Janae enjoys volunteering with projects, events and organizations that serve people and places in need.  And in her spare time, she mentors young girls, writes poetry, scrapbooks, plays with dogs, listens to 90s music and watches 90s sitcoms.  Janae truly believes that her life is designed to spread encouragement, love, light and positive energy to everyone she comes in contact with.  She is inspired and motivated by many quotes, but loves sharing this quote from motivational speaker Les Brown with others, "You don't have to be great to get started but you have to get started to be great. "
