Carol Journey

My name is Carol Journey but better known as “C.J.”. I was born and raised in Wichita, KS and am a Mid-West girl through and through. In Kansas I competed and trained in all realms of dance and gymnastics from the age of 5 all through high school.  Following high school I attended the University of Kansas where I double majored in the business school in Finance and Marketing. While at KU I was honored to be a member of the dance team and performed at all home football and basketball games and also tournaments. I also competed on both nationally competitive teams in Jazz and Hip-Hop at UDA dance Nationals in Orlando, FL. My senior year was the year we won the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship! Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU!

After college I moved to Kansas City where I cheered in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009 and 2010. After living in Kansas City for 3 years I decided to take a chance and try out for the New York Knicks City Dancers, made the team, and moved to New York City to pursue my big city dreams! Performing in Madison Square Garden was one of the best experiences of my life! Knicks Tape!

I want to personally take the time to thank people who has helped shape my dance career and dreams: Kacy Combs, Brandon Swaney, Tasha Ruble, Cat Jarzemkoski, Elaine Hart, and Stephanie Judah and of course my amazing, supportive parents, Phillip and Suyapa Journey. Without you believing in me more than I believed in myself sometimes, I would not be where I am today. Thank you!

My favorite sayings are “God never promised smooth sailing, only a safe landing” and “When you want something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done”.
