Alayna Raye Simpson, also known as “Lay” was raised in Teaneck New Jersey and has been dancing since she can remember. Training at local dance studios she later decided she wanted to attend Professional Children’s School in New York City. At that time she started training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance School & also signed with Wilhelmina Modeling Agency. Throughout High School she appeared in various commercials, clothing catalogues, was the face of various IGIA products and the book series “3 Girls In The City”. It was then at an early age she realized the Performing Arts was where her heart was and what she wanted as a career.
Alayna attended Hofstra University for Dance & after continued her training in the Independent Study Program at the Alvin Ailey Dance School for a year. At the school she extensively studied in Ballet, Modern (Horton/Graham), Jazz and African. Always eager to grow and be well rounded she would go to Broadway Dance Center & take Hip Hop & Street Jazz classes. Being able to train with top choreographers in the commercial Industry and meeting so many talented dancers has inspired her to push even harder for her dreams.
Since signing with BLOC Talent agency, Alayna has worked with artists such as Shakira, Letoya Luckett, Tiffany Evans, Comedian Tracy Morgan, Actor Jon Cryer, Rappers Bow Wow, Jim Jones, DJ Webstar & Julez Santana, just to name a few.
She has danced in many music videos, Industrials and has performed in numerous TV/Award Shows including: Ugly Betty, American Music Awards, Comedy Awards, So You Think You Can Dance, George Lopez Tonight, Jingle Ball Concert & the NBA All Star Half Time Show.
Being able to do what she loves, as a career is a blessing because she gets to share her passion for the arts with the world. Believing anything is possible, Alayna wants to continue to learn and grow as an artist and inspire many along the way.
