AJ Blankenship

AJ grew up in Columbus, OH where he mastered advanced levels of acrobats when training as a competitive gymnast throughout his youth. He later attended The Ohio State University where he thrived in diversifying his physical arsenal. He split his time training technique in the Dance program and leading the Varsity Cheerleading Squad, an acrobatic intensive program.

Prior to graduation, AJ extended his resume by taking off on tour with Bring It On: the Musical, as a Swing. His work on tour kept him onboard to be a part of the Original Broadway Cast of the Tony nominated show and was given the nickname “Super-Swing” by his cast. While on Broadway, he also worked with choreographer Peter Darling as the Assistant Acrobatics Coach for Matilda the Musical.

AJ’s dedication to his degree took him back to Ohio State upon Bring It On’s end on Broadway, where he received his BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, magna cum laude.

Since graduation, AJ has been back in NYC dancing and tumbling his heart out. Credits include Saturday Night Live, Grease Live FOX Upfront, DigiFest backup dancing for Frankie Grande, and as a Swing in the new Rockette show, New York Spring Spectacular.

AJ’s hobbies include making silly noises, funny faces, and challenging people to thumb wars. Think you can beat him? Bring it. He would like to thank his family for all their love and support as he continues to chase his dreams.
